Dental Implants West Palm Beach FL

Dental Implants are the most predictable and natural form of tooth replacement. Dental implants are changing the way people live. They are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth which look, feel and function like natural teeth.

What Are Dental Implants? The actual implants are tiny titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. These metal anchors act as tooth root substitutes. The bone bonds with the titanium, which creates a strong foundation for artificial teeth.

Once you learn about implant dentistry, you finally realize there is a way to improve your life. Implants help to preserve facial structure, preventing bone deterioration that may occur when teeth are missing. If your mouth is not ideal for implants, options such as bone grafting may be recommended for improved outcome.

Periodontal Surgery Procedures West Palm Beach FL

When recession of the gingiva occurs, the body loses a natural defense against both bacterial penetration and trauma. When gum recession is a problem, gum reconstruction using grafting techniques is an option. A gum graft or gingival graft is designed to solve these problems. Crown lengthening (or crown exposure) is required when your tooth needs a new crown or other restoration.

Over time, the jawbone associated with missing teeth atrophies or is reabsorbed. Most patients with this condition would not be candidates for placement of dental implants. Bone grafting is necessary when there is poor quality and quantity of bone suitable for placement of dental implants. Today, we have the ability to grow bone where needed. This gives us the opportunity to place implants of proper length and width, and it also gives us a chance to restore functionality and esthetic appearance with bone grafting.

Dr. Rattner provides periodontal surgery to West Palm Beach and surrounding areas.

Cosmetic Periodontal Procedures West Palm Beach FL

Cosmetic periodontal procedures are a predictable way to cover unsightly, sensitive, or exposed root surfaces and to prevent future gum recession. Teeth may appear short, but they may actually be the proper length. Too much gum tissue may be covering the teeth. Periodontist Dr Rattner can correct this by performing the periodontal plastic surgery procedure, crown lengthening.

Another cosmetic periodontal procedure is the soft tissue graft. It is used to cover unattractive tooth roots, reduce gum recession, and protect the roots from decay and eventual loss. Bone grafting following tooth loss can preserve the socket/ridge and minimize gum and bone collapse.
